Freedom Pathway
Experiencing Greater Freedom with Every Step

Church & State

The separation of church and state is obviously something that the “STATE” invented. God certainly never wanted a separation between his church and the affairs of state, i.e. government. God IS the head of any true government – He always has been – for God is and always will be over and above everything. If anyone argues to the contrary they are merely fooling themselves and others or at least attempting to do so.

God always ruled his people spiritually, physically, emotionally, you name it. He is and always will be in charge. When the people in the Old Testament demanded a king they did it to their own shame. God was their king and warned the people that any human king would treat them horribly. Still they demanded a human king and God allowed it so they would learn from their mistake. God was and still is the one and only king and any human fabrication to the contrary is a sad lie. The rule of God is the only true rule of any true government.

Jesus, too, gave a very clever response when the Pharisees tried to trap him and have him imprisoned or worse for questioning government. They asked Jesus if the people should pay taxes to Caesar. Jesus, quite cleverly, asked them for a coin and then asked who's picture is on it. They answered, “Caesar”, of course. So, he told them to give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's. Many Christians even use this as an argument for Christians to stay OUT of government affairs. Yet, what they fail to realize and have “ears to hear” is the message Jesus was really stating. What belongs to God? Everything, of course, including Caesar and everything Caesar supposedly “owns” or is “due”. Therefore, what belongs to Caesar? Nothing. Not only is God the head of state, but the very idea of separating them is preposterous and simply impossible. God is government.

So, should those who seek to walk the Freedom Pathway be involved with the affairs of state and government? Absolutely. But, not in the way of the world, through deceit, corruption and “politics as usual” but in the way of God. Many will claim that the separation of church and state was a measure to protect churches from the rule of government. But, what church would ever need to be protected from a government truly led by God? Obviously, this “rule” would only apply to a corrupt government. No government led by God would ever be a threat to the churches of God. But, for example, when Americans feared the corruption experienced in mother England where church and state were wed and authority was abused, they outlawed the commingling of church and state in America. A good idea based on history, however, conveniently, the state also found a way to use this to its advantage and equally reverse the measure. “If the state can't tell the churches what to do then the churches can't tell the state what to do.” Does anyone see a problem here? You are setting forth a division of a people, a nation from the very outset and dictating to the largest part of the population who profess a desire for morality and humane treatment that they can have no influence on the government that rules them. Insane? Ludicrous? To say the least.  And, it gets worse. Because churches by and large have sold out to the state. In order for them to receive non-profit, 501c3, tax-deductible status, i.e. tax free money they have to agree to say NOTHING and have NO INFLUENCE and PROMOTE NO INFLUENCE on the political establishment, i.e. government that rules them. An obviously corrupt government has now bound and gagged the greatest influence for righteous law and justice and the churches have willingly accepted this because they would rather have more money than a greater influence on righteousness in this world. Hmmm...then is it fair to say that the churches are equally corrupt? In many cases, yes. They would rather live a corrupt lifestyle in the name of God than stand up in the name of God as the voice of reason, the voice of concern, the voice of change, the voice of love and compassion, the voice of God. Of course, there are some churches who merely want to be good little churches and obey the law, but fail to realize who makes the laws. We do, as people, and better yet, God does. And, if those who believe in righteous laws, i.e. true justice, don't stand up for them, then who will? And, what kind of laws will then be created? As Christians we MUST get involved in influencing how people are governed and treated and therefore must be a voice influencing government, law and the rule of the people. And, any true church of God must do the same, even if it means losing their so-called “status” and falling out of favor with the very government they are willing to speak out against and oppose in the name of righteousness. This is the true church and those in it are the true people of God, not a building, not a denomination, but Christ revealed.
